Julia Pfeiffer Burns State Park - one of only a few American waterfalls to fall right into the ocean, and in my opinion, the most beautiful area along Hwy 1. Julia really knew how to pick 'em.
Though the firefighters were battling a fire that ended up lasting for days, I was amazed to see them joking, encouraging, and talking to keep the rest of their team, and themselves, calm and hopeful.
Firefighters. July 18. Wildfires break out in Santa Clarita when a red-tailed hawk is electrocuted in the power lines and falls into dry grass. I was struck by the calmness and persistance of the firefighters I met battling the blaze.
